Almost every mainstream MMO that is being released gets a try in my house. It usually is only the closed/open Beta, but every once in a while one catches my eye. A few years back that game was AION.
I didn't follow it as religiously as I did EQ2 or Vanguard, but it was always in the back of my mind. I have a love affair for NCSOFT Asian Grinders, most notably Lineage 2 (arguably my favorite MMO ever) With a NA release coming soon, I have hit the guild sites and forums rediculously hard. I may have even crashed a server or two lurking.
What excites me about this game, besides its the closest thing to L3, is the "Abyss"! I love completely open PVP a la Darkfall, but RvR in a zone with Epic Monsters, Epic Loot, and better resources are the makings of some Epic Battles. If Aion draws the same crowd as L2, I'm gonna have some fun.
There are lots of things that AION is doing right we'll just have to wait and see how it looks NA Style. When the time comes I look forward to writing my review.

Not Enough Gold?
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the best way to make money in all the MMO's I played. It always came to the same thing, if it was worth it, it took effort. People think they use alot of effort when trying to make gold/plat/adena, but is it real?
WoW was the first MMO that I used theroycrafting extensively to make gold. I didn't discover the secret to making gold on forums or blogs, but I refined it using them. I won't put myself in the realm of Marko or Gevlon but they helped me immensily.
A post by Gevlon today http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/2009/05/low-on-gold.html brought to light something I was thinking at the sametime when I was reading the farming forum on JMTC http://20kleveling.com/JMTCforum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25. Why are people spending 1 hour farming a dungeon making 0-300 gold when they can farm another area and make 500-800 gold an hour?
Apparently what I thought was effort was actually just being effiecient. It's ok if you just want to have some fun in, but to make gold at least pick the most efficient dungeon.
In conclusion I think the real reason why people struggle to make gold is not due to lack of effort, its because they put to much effort into it. An old mentor once told me if you want a job done effieciently, task the laziest person. They will find the quickest most efficient way to accomplish the task.

Premier Post
I thought about starting this Blog with a welcome, but came to the conclusion that I was the only one going to read it. So, I have decided to leave it as an archive, something to peer back at in the future. Instead I'll write a list of objectives, things I want to accomplish in this blog. So, the question is "What do I want to accomplish?".
Firstly, I am looking to create a forum of the things I enjoy doing. It should be entertaining, informative, and semi-personel.
Secondly, I will discuss/share my gameplay style/strategies, issues, and suggestions for others to comment on. It will focus on the game I am playing, played, or want to play.
Finally, I will discuss portions of my life that may be relevent to what ever current events are or how they effect my gamelife.
When all is said in done I will attempt to meet these challenges, or change them as the blog evolves. Whos knows what the future will bring, I may be talking about needle work by the end of it.
Enjoy,
Nitro
